This coming Mnday, the 22nd of April (earth day) we are staging a demonstration in which we we will create a human chain seven miles in length from the south side little village area to city hall, downtown. What were protesting is the continues operation of a couple of chicagos coal plants as they operate now. New legislation being introduced on the 24th will force these powerplants to buy new scrubbers to control air pollution, and will eventually convert them to cleaner fuel source burners, such as natural gas. About 1000 people who die every year in chicago can have their deaths directly attributed to these plants. 25,000 more have asthma attacks because of them. This chain will be seven miles long, and we need as much help as we can get. The details are at www.connect-chicago.org.
