Tick-tock of that doomsday clock.

Out Of the Looking Glass, into the Pyre.

I see a lot of hate. In the eyes of my supposed peers, in the gestures of lost friends, in the furtive glances lovers lost throw at each other. This is to be expected. But what is stunning, agonizing even for one such as me, is to see people lashing out at those whom they've never met. Striking outward at people they don't know, cannot know. This vicious tendency towards destructive actions is something that has been commented on again and again, and exploited almost as often.
But now I ask a question heard so much less often. What are You planning to do about it? Go on with your humdrum life and dark smoldering thoughts full of hidden hurts and festering hunks of self-pity? I doubt that doing so will make it just go away. This, my friends, my foes, my silent critics, is the real war. The battle against the shadow-self which rears its hellish head and tears aside the illusion of civilization with brutal ease. We must rise, and fight. Fight without weapons. The new millenium is only just beginning to drip through the hourglass, but humanity's time is ebbing fast. Unless something changes. Something massive. Sometime soon.

"Let us rise up tonight with a greater readiness. Let us stand with a greater determination. And let us move on in these powerful days, these days of challenge to make America what it ought to be. We have an opportunity to make America a better nation." - Martin Luther King, Jr.
