End Discrimination Against Women
2002-07-13, 11:14 a.m.

Urge Senators on the Foreign Relations Committee to Vote for CEDAW's Ratification on July 18!

This historic vote on the United Nations Convention (Treaty) on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) is the first step towards ratification of the international women's treaty that will strengthen women's rights in the United States as well as globally. The United States is the only industrialized nation not to have already ratified the women's treaty.

It is imperative that you urge members of the Senate Foreign Relations Comittee to vote for CEDAW's ratification. Also, please thank Senator Joseph Biden (D-DE) and Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) for their continued leadership on CEDAW. Finally, if you reside in one of the states represented by a Committee member, please assist us in our campaign for ratification of CEDAW by forwarding your Senator's response to us at [email protected].

Take action now! Urge key members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to vote for CEDAW's ratification on July 18.

Send your letter from this website.

"Let us rise up tonight with a greater readiness. Let us stand with a greater determination. And let us move on in these powerful days, these days of challenge to make America what it ought to be. We have an opportunity to make America a better nation." - Martin Luther King, Jr.
