Amina Lawal's precious life 2002-10-17, 7:19 a.m. Here's a woman who is really using her platform: Amina Lawal is an African woman who has been sentenced to death by stoning for allegedly admitting to an act of adultery with the father of her baby daughter. (The man involved allegedly owned up to their relationship early on and later denied it, and I don't know what consequences, if any, he faces.) Amnesty International and Oprah Winfrey are actively championing her cause, and there is a little bit of time, as her sentence is held over until she has weaned her daughter. Visiting www.oprah.com will bring up a window for easily sending e-mails and letters petitioning the "authorities" involved, as well as linking to Amnesty International and www.womenforwomen.org . Please help save our sister's life.
