2002-04-13, 11:38 a.m.

STOP U.S.-BACKED ISRAELI AGGRESSION AGAINST THE PALESTINIAN PEOPLE!

*Update on April 20 demonstration at the White House: Bus drop-off, logistics & more*

APRIL 20 @ 11 am
Gather at the WHITE HOUSE (on the Ellipse, south side of the White House, 16th St. and Constitution NW)

It is clear from the intensifying mobilization and support for the Palestinian people battling the U.S.-backed Israeli aggression that the April 20 demonstration at the White House will be attended by tens of thousands of people. The main demands at the White House demonstration will be "FREE PALESTINE! No new war on Iraq!", "Stop the attacks on Arab and Muslim people! Defend civil liberties!", and "Money for Jobs, Education, Healthcare and Housing, Not War!"

- After the rally at the White House, we will MARCH east on Pennsylvania Ave. directly in front of the White House, and across Pennsylvania Ave. to the Justice Department.
- At the Justice Department--directly across the street from the J. Edgar Hoover FBI building--we will rally in defense of civil rights and civil liberties and to demand the repeal of Ashcroft's USA Patriot Act.

Metro information suggested by myroom.diaryland.com : Washington DC has a great subway system called "the Metro". Click here, here, or here for interactive maps. The closest Metro stop to the White House is Federal Triangle on the orange and blue lines. Walk towards the Washington Monument (the big pencil) past Freedom Plaza, and follow the crowds of people. If you're staying in the city, chances are there is a Metro stop within walking distance. The lines (conveniently labeled with colors) stretch into parts of Maryland and Virginia, and some stops have parking available. The Metro is really easy to use, and you can buy passes at all the stations with easy to use machines. Just be sure to hold on to your pass when you enter and leave.
