No War with Iraq!
2002-04-16, 1:24 p.m.

Tell the government not to start a new war on Iraq!

Peace Response has a page of activism suggestions and links, including a pledge you can sign, an email generator to send emails to your representatives, and related action messages from other groups.

Tell them:

The price already paid by the people of Iraq under eleven years of sanctions has been enormous: hundreds of thousands dead, an economy in ruins, destruction of the infrastructure, preventable and curable diseases spreading and killing due to lack of supplies, and total isolation of Iraqs professionals. To now target Iraq within the broad sweep of the "war on terrorism" will only create more suffering and violence. Punishing the Iraqi people for the actions of a regime is an injustice that contributes to a growing anti-U.S. sentiment in the Middle East and throughout the world.

U.S. relations with Middle East states will further deteriorate if we invade. Even our European allies in the war coalition oppose an invasion. German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer warned recently that Europe was "completely united" in opposition to any attack on Iraq. We must find another way.

This is the time to show the strength of America through principled negotiation. It is not a time for ultimatums, threats, and war. Do not to widen the "war on terrorism."

"Let us rise up tonight with a greater readiness. Let us stand with a greater determination. And let us move on in these powerful days, these days of challenge to make America what it ought to be. We have an opportunity to make America a better nation." - Martin Luther King, Jr.
