Last Chance on Yucca Mountain
2002-07-08, 2:56 p.m.

The Senate is about to vote on whether or not to dump nuclear waste on the Yucca Mountain site. Republicans are boasting that the Democrat-lead Senate is going to vote yes, so it's vital that we take this last chance to make our voices heard. Contact your senators and tell them to VOTE NO on this insanely dangerous plan!

The Nuclear Waste Technical Review Board recently stated that many important scientific questions about the safety of the site remain unresolved. According to a recent General Accounting Office report, there are over 250 significant unresolved technical issues with the Yucca Mountain site. Engineers and the Department of Energy's (DOE) own science taskforce have declared that the mountain leaks and that the storage canisters are predicted to fail.
