About Progressive Activist Alerts 2002-03-16, 9:30 p.m. This is a diary for people to post activism alerts for progressive causes, to spread ideas and get the word out when there's a need for action. Anyone can post an action alert, so long as it's for a progressive cause. What's a progressive cause? Generally liberal, environmentally friendly, anti-consumerist - the kind of thing you read about in magazines like Mother Jones, The Nation and the Utne Reader, and on websites like Common Dreams. So if you have an action alert that's about green issues, feminism, civil rights, sweatshops, the wage gap, health care, gay rights, racism, the WTO - post it here! Needless to say, we are not interested in racist, anti-gay, anti-feminist, anti-environment, or right wing causes. If you want to post them, start your own diary for it. This is also not a debate site - if you disagree with any of the issues and want to argue, write about it in your diary or visit Debate It.
